My grand father Burl Blankenship died in this flood. I live in Columbus, Ohio and never heard a thing about this. We just so happened to find out via the internet. We were never notified because all the phone numbers and etc., were washed away with his home. This was a very sad day for me and my family. We loved him very, very much. He loved his great grandson Matthew Armitage dearly.
What a horrible way to die, and what a horrible for family to find out, on the internet.
I miss you grandpa, you are deep in my thoughts, and will always hold a place in my heart. I LOVE YOU!

Burl Blankenship left behind 6 grand daughters. Deborah Jones (Me), Rose Mary (Jones) Mendana, Jennifer (Jones) Davis, Teresa (Jones) Bates, Joy (Jones)Keith, Tonya (Jones) Janey. He has left behind numerous great children. Matthew Armitage, Jose Mendana Jr, Carlito Mendana, Angela (Davis) Taylor, Emma Davis, James Davis, Michael Davis, Tonya Davis, Jennifer Hunt, Chey Jones, Jerry Jones. He has also left behind numerous great, great grand children that due to his death has not seen and will never know. The Hurley flood that took his life before his time will not be forgotten by any of his family members here. His stepson Jerry C. Jones Jr (my father) is deceased and would have really suffered knowing this happened. He was very close to my grand father and love him just like a real father. The other man that lost his life in this flood with my grand father, I feel badly for his family as well. You just never know when some thing like this will happen and you never know when it does. We didnt get the media cover here in Ohio and we found out that my grand father was taken by the flood via the internet. When we didnt hear from him for a while we knew some thing was wrong. This bothers me, it saddens me, it makes me ill, it makes me lost.

Here it is many years has passed since this horrific tragedy and we lost our beloved grandfather Bural Blankenship. It shows he has not been forgotten as I think of him constantly and still strongly grieve his passing and tragic at that. How blessed we were to have had in as our grandfather. His smile, laugh live and temper when he was really upset, you just can’t forget. Grandpa I miss you so darn much and love you endlessly and as you look down upon us you can see you are not, will not ever be forgotten.

I’m not sure who is asking to be emailed here. I would be willing to email if it’s someone outside the Jones family but there is no way of knowing who is asking.
